Will cut to the chase…

This ought to make you madddddddd.

I’m writing a book about BARE for pre-teens and the project just got moved to the front fucking burner.

Why?

Children and weight loss do not mix. And Weight Watchers just went all in on a way to lure children into the diet industry trap.

Weight Watchers recently rebranded to “WW” and purchased an app called Kurbo. The app has gamified weight loss and is targeting children as young as 8 years old.

I have over 12 years of coaching thousands of women on food and body issues, and NO ONE….NOT ONE WOMAN has ever said that it was helpful that her mother/father/grandmother put her on a diet at a young age.

In fact, the opposite is true.

Children encouraged to diet develop low self-esteem and spend decades suffering from food and body issues. Restriction and “white knuckling” it is not sustainable and is harmful to the mind and the body.

-Before/After photos of children reinforces the idea that larger bodies are not acceptable.

-Labeling food as “green light” and “red light” creates disordered thinking and eating.

-Tracking and limiting food intake teaches kids that they can’t be trusted to learn what their bodies need and how much to feed it.

Research and science tell us these things:

1. Diets are proven to be a precursor to eating disorders due to the controlling and restrictive practices involved.

2. Diets do not work. 95% of dieters regain the weight they lost plus additional weight.

3. The 5% of dieters who do not regain weight cannot credit sticking to a “diet plan” as the reason for their sustainable weight loss.

This is dangerous.
This is ignorant.
This is criminal.

And make no mistake, this is profiting off of our children’s pain.

This must change now, with our generation, so that our daughters and granddaughters can grow up in a better world.

It’s time to reclaim our time, our bodies, and our power.

If we want health for our kids, it starts by our own example.

Take excellent care of yourself. Give your body honor and respect. Love yourself. Feed yourself. Fuel yourself. Keep yourself feeling healthy and energized and STRONG—not hungry, worried, and distracted.

I want every woman reading this to feel strong, not tired and distracted.

Strong, so we can crush the patriarchy.

Strong, so you can chase your dreams.

Strong, so you can be a role model, change your community, change the world, earn that money, and leave your legacy.

You only get one life. Make it count.

You only get one body. Give it love.

Stay strong. Join the BARE movement.
