The rest of 2017: how to finish strong!

Hello and happy Monday! This is Susan Hyatt and it’s GO time.

This is the 108th episode in a series of GO mp3s to wake you up on your Monday morning and get you going.

In this episode I’m sharing some of my favorite questions to help you make the last 4 months of 2017… the BEST months yet.

OK, people. I know it’s hard to believe, but… it’s the end of August. We’ve got about 4 months to go until the end of 2017.

We’re in the home stretch. The final lap. This is the moment to collect your thoughts, decide which priorities really matter to you, update your plans, and finish strong.

That’s what this episode is all about—how to wrap up 2017 on a strong, focused, victorious note.

‘Cause we’ve all got projects to finish… and changes to make… and legacies to build. This is not the moment to be laggin’ and draggin’ like a soggy biscuit!

Let’s go through a couple questions to help you clarify your priorities for the rest of 2017—so you can focus your time and energy where it really needs to be.

Here’s your first question:

– What are 3 things you really want to experience before the end of this year?

Maybe one experience that you’d love to have is… one weekend, all by yourself. Like a solo-retreat, with no clients or colleagues or kids or pets or anything. Two days just for you. Maybe that’s something you’d love to experience before the end of 2017. Yes?

Or maybe you want to experience the thrill and excitement of completing a 5K race.

Or maybe you want to experience the joy of puttering around in your garden twice a week, getting dirt under your fingernails, feeling the fresh air and sunlight.

Or maybe you want a morning routine that’s way calmer and simpler—maybe that’s an experience that you crave.

What are 3 experiences you really crave… and that you’d love to have in your life before the end of this year?

Write ‘em down. You can pause this podcast while you think and write, and hit PLAY again when you’re ready.

– Next question: what are 3 projects you really want to finish before the end of this year?

It could be de-cluttering your closet, because finishing that project will seriously upgrade your quality of life.

It could be writing a collection of 10 “thank you” notes to your 10 closest friends and mentors.

It could be launching your website—finally.

Whatever kind of project feels meaningful and high-priority for you, write it down. One project, maybe two or three. Whatever feels the most important to you right now.

– Next question: What are 3 things that would make your life a little more delicious—ideally, things that you could create for yourself right now?

Maybe having new curtains in your bedroom would make a huge difference for you, because you hate those nasty old plastic blinds and you feel sad every time you look at them! Blech! Begone!

Maybe having fresh flowers on your desk would make a big difference. Or maybe putting cucumber and lemon into your water bottle would feel so special and lovely.

Think of a couple ways you could upgrade your quality of life right away—like basically, starting today—so that the rest of 2017 feels a little more delicious.

– Last question: What are 3 things you could stop doing—or remove from your plate ASAP—that would make your life feel so much better

Maybe you want to stop watching terrifying TV shows right before bedtime because it gives you so much anxiety. Oh my God, this was me, back in the day. I used to watch horrifying CSI episodes with my husband and then I’d have nightmares about murders and stalkers. Ugh. Not anymore. I cut that out of my life because it wasn’t good for me.

Or maybe you want to stop going to your book club because honestly, it’s really boring, and you’d rather connect with your friends in a different way.

What else? What else could be removed from your calendar, your to-do list, your brain? How could you clear out some space before the end of this year?

Spend some time with all of these questions.

If you want, you can make a date with a friend and go through these questions together. Sometimes it’s easier to figure out the answers when you’re talking it out, rather than writing it down. Or maybe you want to talk it out and then write it down. Everyone’s brain works a lil’ differently. Do what you need to do.

Oh, and if you’re listening to this episode on my website—SHYATT.COM—right below the audio for this podcast, there’s a written transcript of the episode. You can read that, or print it out, and use it like a worksheet. All of the questions I just asked—they’re all in the written transcript. You’re welcome.

It is definitely NOT too late to finish 2017 on a strong, focused note… feeling empowered… feeling victorious… feeling like you’re steering your life in the direction you want to go.

Make a plan and rock it out like the BOSS that you are.

And by the way, when I call you a BOSS, I’m not necessarily talking about running a business or managing a team. A BOSS is anybody who takes charge of their life. Anybody who says, “I know what I want and I’m going for it. I’ve got a plan and I’m putting things into motion.” That’s a BOSS.

Boss up and claim that role. Because seriously, there’s only one person who should be in the driver’s seat of your life, and that person is YOU.

Let’s make the last 4 months of 2017… the BEST months yet.

We got this.

It’s GO time.
