Do you have an area in your life where you want to “step up” in a bigger way?
Today my guest is the incredible Dr. Yamma Brown – devoted wife, mother, daughter, and a force to be reckoned with.
Yamma is the youngest daughter of the icon James Brown and Vice President of the James Brown Family Foundation. Yamma has been a Clinical Pharmacist for over 20 years, bringing health outreach programs to the community.
She is the CEO of Daughter of Soul productions and an author. Her book Cold Sweat, My Father James Brown and Me chronicles life lessons and struggles of having a famous father.
Yamma worked as a consulting producer on her father’s biopic, “Get On Up,” starring Chadwick Boseman and directed by Tate Taylor. Dr. Brown has been very transparent about her history with domestic violence and has become a sought-after speaker on women and teen violence.
One of Yamma’s latest endeavors is as a co-host of Soul Sisters on Dash Radio. Along with Heather Hayes, the daughter of Isaac Hayes, she brings valuable information and great music to audiences weekly.
Yamma sees no signs of slowing down as she is currently working on several projects, one of which is to bring her story to TV. She enjoys spending time with family and using her voice to continue her father’s legacy and make a difference in the community.
In this episode, Yamma talks about getting up the nerve to open a mobile clinic – working with underserved communities to offer preventative health care.
Yamma is also trying to get up the nerve to write another book and turn her life story into a scripted TV show.
Yamma has a beautiful message to share about stepping up and stepping out with faith.
I hope you enjoy this impactful and inspiring interview!
