Speaker 1 (00:00):
Is there something you wish you had the nerve to do? Welcome to, you've Got Nerve, the podcast that teaches you how to conquer your fears, upgrade your mindset, and get up the nerve to go after whatever you want. If you wish you had the guts to go all in on your goals, dreams, and desires, this show is for you. I'm master certified life coach Susan Hyatt, and I am so excited for you to join me on this journey. Oh, hey, hey, hey, listen. In today's episode, I'm going to talk to you about winning more, specifically believing you've already won. At the Finish Strong event last weekend, my client, Jill Griffin, announced to the room working with you, changed my life. Everything I pitched, I won. But Jill wasn't talking just about success in a professional capacity. She was illustrating a mindset that flowed into every aspect of her life.
(01:06):
It was about the energy, the belief, the unstoppable confidence that no matter what she was going to come out on top. Now, how do you adopt what we would call a winning mindset? First, here's a trick. Let's start with believing you've already won. So when Jill said Everything I pitched, I won, she wasn't showing off. What she's really saying is she's got a rock solid belief in herself, and it's like she's stepping up to the plate in a baseball game already knowing she's going to hit a home run. That's powerful, right? It's about rolling up with confidence and trusting your worth. Now, here's where it gets tricky, Ricky. Some might see that kind of confidence and think, well, that sounds braggy. Well, there's a huge difference, y'all, between being arrogant and having a deep, grounded belief in what you can do, a winner's mindset. It's like an inner cheerleader telling you you've got this every single day. For so many women, that inner cheerleader can be really
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Quiet.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
History hasn't been the kindest to us. Have you noticed women have been side eyed for taking charge or speaking up for forever? Ever been called bossy for well being a boss? Yeah, me too. And because of that, sometimes we shrink stay small and think things like, maybe this just isn't my thing. Or you know what? I'm just not cut out for this. Adopting a winning mindset isn't just about feeling good inside. It's about kicking those outdated beliefs to the curb and giving ourselves permission to show up and shine bright. Imagine walking into a room and believing without a shadow of a doubt that you've already conquered whatever challenge lies ahead. With every step, you're oozing this unshakable confidence that says, I've got this. Now imagine you truly deep down believe that no matter what curve ball is thrown your way, you've already knocked it out of the park.
(03:36):
That kind of energy is magnetic. People can't help but pick up on it. So when you genuinely feel like you've already scored that win, something amazing happens. So how can you create this winning mindset? First things first. Visualize your success. So I like to call it pre recapping your win. Picture yourself absolutely nailing it. Dive into those emotions. Can you see the high fives, the nods of appreciation, the happy dance you do when no one's watching? Feel it all. And by letting your brain marinate in that hell yeah, I just did that. Marinate in that feeling. You're setting up the stage for real life success. Then affirm your worth. So here's a quick exercise. Every day, look at yourself in the mirror and remind yourself how amazing you are. Hit yourself with that I got this, or I'm more than enough or I'm worth it.
(04:48):
I know it's going to feel strange at first, but trust me, these daily pep talks, they'll slowly but surely morph your inner dialogue into one. That's all sorts of empowering. For an example, I wrote a book you may or may not know called Bear, and it's all about loving the skin that you're in. And years ago, that was far from the case. I dodged the camera any chance I could get, I dressed in a way to just cover everything up. I really didn't want to be noticed and I didn't want to be seen. And there's lots of reasons why. If you're interested, you can read the book. It's a good one. But my point is, when I would pass by a storefront and see my reflection or pass by a mirror, I certainly wasn't looking at myself and telling myself I'm more than enough. I'm worth it.
(05:49):
And now when I see myself, it's normal for me to tell myself kind things to say like, you know what? You really deserve this break. You know what? You are so worth every bit you charge. That's practice y'all showing up in front of the mirror for years, telling myself kind things. Alright, next up. Level up your support squad. Ever Notice how some people light you up and others leach all of your energy like a vampire. Find your people, those who lift your spirits, challenge you in a good way and serve as your personal cheer squad. I can't tell you how different my life is today, having such supportive, loving people on my squad. It makes all the difference. Then reframe how you feel about failure and rejection. Stumbles and face plants are just part of the journey. Don't label them as epic fails or flops.
(07:00):
They're just more like life's little tutorials, part of the fail pile. Every hiccup, every oops moment is a chance to get wiser, to tweak things and come back even stronger. And let's not forget to celebrate our wins. Big or small, a win is a win. Did something go slightly better today than yesterday? Throw a mini party, these tiny triumphs, they pile up and give you a big old boost. So I am celebrating today that I am batching four podcast episodes because on Friday I leave town to walk the Camino in Spain. And guess what? It's a big and a small win. Listen, three podcast episodes. Four podcast episodes. Hello, let's celebrate. Listen, when Jill took the mic at Finish Strong, she wasn't just flexing about her winning streak, she was serving us a slice of what it looks like. When you believe in yourself so much, that success just follows you like a loyal puppy dog. It's that energy, that spark that says, come at me world. I'm ready. Now, having a winner's mindset isn't about being a know-it-all or pretending that problems don't exist. No, no, no, no, no. That's not what we're talking about. It's about a deep rooted belief, an unstoppable vibe that you send out to the universe. Now, how's that for a game plan?
