If you are new to this show, hello and welcome! This is a show where we talk about goals, and courage, and going after what you really want in life.

I drop a new episode every Monday to get your week started off right.

Today, I’ve got a great story for you… and a great question to ask yourself.

I was on the phone with a client recently. We were talking about her plans for the New Year—her personal goals, her professional goals, everything she’s hoping to create and achieve.

She’s got some BIG goals right now. She wants to be courageous. She wants to put in the work. She doesn’t want to make a half-assed effort, or let her insecurities get in the way. She wants to be brave, and committed, and really SHOW UP.

During our conversation, my client asked an excellent question.

She asked, “How will I know if I am really showing up?”

What a great question, right?

OK, for me, this is what it means to really show up:

– It means I set my alarm clock for 5am. I wake up. I don’t hit the snooze button. I go for my morning run, and then I head to my desk and get cracking.

– It means I set consistent office hours and I stick to them.

– It means when I show up to work, I am ACTUALLY working. I’m doing real work, not goofing around shopping for discount designer clothes on the Internet or reading Twitter or whatever.

– It means I feel uncomfortable A LOT of the time, because I’m taking emotional risks and really pushing myself. I’m sending out my book proposal. I’m posting that new podcast episode. I’m launching that new project. I am making myself vulnerable to rejection and criticism. That’s a big signal that I am showing up, not hiding.

Those are some of the habits that signal to me, “I am really showing up.”

But above and beyond that… for me… I know I am showing because of how it FEELS.

For me, showing up creates this feeling of satisfaction, a feeling of being proud of myself. A feeling where I know, “Today, I really did my best. My best teaching. My best coaching. My best work.”

When my head hits the pillow at night, I feel happy and content. I’m at peace. I know I gave my absolute best effort and I feel good about how the day went. Even if a program didn’t sell. Even if I made a mistake. Even if I got a weird piece of snarky hate mail.

That feeling of satisfaction is still there, and I know, “I showed up. I did my work. I did my best.”

And nobody can take that feeling away from me.

This week, I invite you to spend some time thinking about this question:

What does SHOWING UP look like and feel like for you?

How will you know that you are showing up for your life? Showing up for your business? Showing up for your goals? Your health goals? Your creative goals? Your financial goals? REALLY showing up? For REAL?

What are the qualities, habits, or feelings that signify, “I’m seriously doing this and I am NOT holding back.”

Your list of signals might be different from mine. So, write down what showing up looks like and feels like for YOU.

Write it out. Then DO IT.

SHOW UP. Commit to your goals with your whole heart. Be ALL IN.

Whatever you want most, when you go ALL IN… it’s all yours.

It’s GO time.
