OK gurrrl. Do you need some Vitamin P in your life? I am not talking about Potassium. I am talking about P as in Pleasure. And no, I am not talking about sexual pleasure, although that could be part of it. I’m talking about ALL KINDS of pleasure. ALL KINDS of beauty, fun, connection, and joy.

Pleasure from art, music, books, movies, and TV shows that you love.

Pleasure from hanging out with your friends and loved ones.

Pleasure from being in nature.

Pleasure from moving your body.

Pleasure from expressing yourself creatively: writing, speaking, cooking, gardening, making things with your mind and hands.

Pleasure from your surroundings—your favorite chair, your comfy couch, the flowers on your kitchen table.

Pleasure from food, especially when you slow down to really savor and taste your meals.

Pleasure from snuggling with your dog, cat, or your kids.

All kinds of pleasure.

Most women are STARVING for pleasure.

I remember asking a client recently, “What’s the most pleasurable moment of your day?” and she literally could not think of a single thing.

I asked someone else, “What do you do for fun?” and again, she struggled to think of something. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d had a real weekend or a day off. The idea of infusing more pleasure into her life felt like a totally foreign concept.

People. This is a problem. We NEED pleasure in our lives. This is not optional. Our health suffers without it.

When we are pleasure-deficient, our stress levels spike upwards. Then our hormones go haywire. Our cortisol levels go up. Cortisol is the hormone that’s associated with stress, with your fight or flight panic respinse. Then, with elevated cortisol, we wind up with all kinds of problems. Your metabolism slows down. Your digestive system can’t function optionally. You gain weight more easily. Your adrenal system gets exhausted. So many issues. But all of this can be corrected! The solution is… more pleasure.

I am urging you…

Become a woman who is devoted to her own pleasure.

If every woman made it a priority to fill her life with more pleasure, I am telling you, our world would not be the same. Marriages would be saved. Excess weight would melt away. So many bottles of pills and medications would be dumped in the trash because everyone would feel SO MUCH BETTER.

You are probably Vitamin P deficient. Most people are. So this week, I challenge you to infuse your life with Vitamin P. All kinds of pleasure, from a variety of sources. Not JUST food. Not JUST TV. Try to diversity your pleasure sources.

This doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. You could do something really small, like use the fancy china when you have your morning tea, or use a fancy linen napkin, or ditch your ratty old bathroom towels and invest in soft, beautiful ones. Or curl up with a book for twenty minutes before bed. Or make yourself a body scrub with sea salt and coconut oil.

Do WHATEVER you want to do. Just do something. A little bit of pleasure and beauty can make such a dramatic difference in your day. It will shift your physiology. Your body will exhale and say, “Oh my god. Thank you. I was waiting for that.”

Make this a priority, because Vitamin P will make you calmer, healthier, more prosperous, and so much happier.

I speak from experience, of course. I used to be seriously Vitamin P deficient, but I’ve fixed that. And EVERY aspect of my life feels better as a result.

So ladies, get out there and take your Vitamin P.
