How to Create a Wealthy Mindset

-Are you stuck in a cycle of low-quality thought patterns?

-Do you have some outdated stories playing on repeat in your mind?

-How many times a day do you have thoughts about yourself that simply aren’t true?

Even as a Master Certified Life Coach- I still have thoughts that don’t serve my ass. It’s something I need to work on all the time.

What you tell yourself- about yourself- can energize you…. Or drain you.

Today’s show is all about doing your own thought work.

When I say “work on your thoughts” – I mean paying close attention to the thoughts that come into your head throughout the day.

I want you to think and reflect about what you tell yourself.

If your thoughts are draining, negative, exhausting, they’re not serving you, and it’s time to challenge them.

I encourage you to pay closer attention to the thoughts in your head. If your thoughts are making you sink into a crappy mood- challenge them. Change them. The more you do this, the better you’ll feel.

And if you’re struggling to rid toxic thoughts, think of it like changing the channel on the TV.

A thought floats into your brain…. Then it begins to spiral like a horror movie on loop.

Are you gonna sit around and watch that thought slash up your entire life?

Or are you gonna change the channel to a sweet romcom on the Hallmark channel or whales swimming on Discovery?

If a thought isn’t serving you…. CHANGE THE DAMN CHANNEL.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • How working on your thoughts improves your energy and happiness.
  • How to identify low-quality thought patterns.
  • How to reframe your thoughts, and change what you say to yourself.

Susan Hyatt:
Welcome to the Rich Coach Club. The podcast that teaches you how to build your dream coaching practice and how to significantly increase your income. If you're a coach and if you're determined to start making more money, this show is for you. I'm master certified life coach Susan Hyatt, and I am psyched for you to join me on this journey.
Hey coaches, as soon as I finish recording this podcast, I am going outside and I'm going to enjoy the rose porn happening in my garden. Oh my God. It's so important for me to sit in my backyard on my patio of possibility and enjoy the fruits of my labor, because I used to tell myself that I had a black thumb. Honestly, I couldn't keep anything alive. I used to joke that I could raise humans and businesses, but not plants and shrubs. So I played that low quality thought and belief system in my head on loop for years. Honestly, my whole life. And it was a total lie, actually. Even as a master certified life coach, I still have thoughts that don't serve my ass. It's something I really need to work on all the time. And if you've got some outdated stories whirling in your mind, then this episode is especially for you.
How many times a day do you have thoughts about that yourself that just aren't true? 10 times, 50, 100? Have you lost count? What you tell yourself about yourself can energize you or it can drain you. And this is why it's so important to pay attention, to observe our thoughts and work on our thoughts. Even if you're great at recognizing toxic thoughts for your clients and providing the tools to help them, that doesn't excuse you from doing your own work. And when I say work on your thoughts, here's what I mean. I mean paying close attention to the thoughts that pop into your head throughout the day. It means having awareness of those thoughts. If they're negative, if they're draining, exhausting, not serving you, then you need to challenge those thoughts. And then of course you'll want to change, reframe, pivot those thoughts and tell yourself something different.
For example, a friend of mine recently moved to a town where pickle ball is a huge sport. Now I have a client named Janelle out in California who is a new pickle ball player and she loves it. And honestly, she was the first person I knew who actually played pickle ball until this client of mine started talking about it and they play competitively for points. And my friend clammed up and got lost in her thoughts and was telling herself, "Oh, I'm terrible. They won't want to be friends with me after they see how I play. I'm just not competitive". And she made an excuse to get out of it. She dodged the invitation for a few weeks, but then she was presented with another invitation and another and another. And she was running out of actual excuses and just stuck with the ones in her mind. And she recognized that these thoughts just weren't serving her. And so she decided to challenge them.
Was she good at pickle ball? No, but she could work to get better. And why did she need to be good at something to go out and play? No one was going to hate her for being a beginner. These were her friends and they had proven to be supportive and encouraging in all the other spaces. Would they suddenly turn into violent competitors who beat her with a pickle ball paddle if she missed a shot? Of course not. Just by changing the way she talked to herself, she felt an instant shift in her energy and her happiness, changing her attitude about pickle ball, made all the difference. And now she's having fun, getting out and sweating and laughing and challenging herself in her cute new pickle ball outfits with her new sport.
Now, if my friend had not done this thought work, she would be at home sadly munching on chips on her couch watching reruns while her friends were out laughing and playing in the fresh air. I encourage you to pay closer attention to the thoughts in your head, because if your thoughts are making you sink into a crappy mood, challenge them, change them. The more you do this, the better you're going to feel. Trust me on this. If I had challenged the thought about having a black thumb... I used to look at people who had beautiful gardens or amazing house plants and just think they had something that I didn't. If I had challenged the thought about having a black thumb... Thank you COVID for forcing me to, I could have been frolicking in a fancy ass garden full of pink roses for years. Years.
I have clients And maybe some of you listening who tell themselves they're bad with money, or they're terrible with relationships or passion just them, or they're not interesting enough, or they're not smart enough. Fill in the blank. Notice what you're telling yourself. Don't miss, whatever your roses are, upgrade those thoughts and get ready for an unstoppable life. All right you all, it's time for some community wins. I love community wins because I love so much bragging on people who are in my masterminds, my clients, people who are inside the go-time Facebook group. Which by the way, if you're not inside there, even those of you all who don't like Facebook, listen. You would like the go-time group. I create amazing spaces for women to be supported. So don't miss out because you've got this hate for Facebook.
And today I want to give a shout out to my On The Six Mastermind client, Katie. So Katie had been a little missing in action in the group and she had some personal stuff going on and she reemerged to update us that she's now navigating being a single mom. So she's getting a divorce. However, her business is fully booked for the first time ever. And so I just want to give a shout out to Katie because sometimes in the midst of tragedy, we find out what we're really made of. And sometimes it doesn't feel great to go through trauma or to go through what seems like having the rug pulled out from under us. But in my communities, the women in my groups, the people in my groups are always Phoenix rising from the ashes. And so let's celebrate Katie.
And if you're going through something right now, that's particularly challenging, just remember that everything can change. In a day, in a week in a year. Oh my God I was just talking with some of my friends about look at the difference a year makes. So, Katie, we salute you. Congratulations on a fully booked life coaching practice. That's amazing. And thank you for being vulnerable enough to share with our group what's been happening and welcome back.

Or are you going to change to a channel like a sweet rom-com or a Hallmark movie or whale swimming on discovery? If a thought isn't serving you, change the damn channel.
